Challenge: The client is a third-generation family-owned business, distributed raw material products company with several plant locations. Executive management had two significant labor issues. The current Company union contract ended a raiding union attempting to become the production employees' representative union.

Results:
STHRM, Inc recommended and implemented the following strategies presented to the Company President:
We developed and conducted training classes with senior management and supervisors on "what to say and not to say" during a union campaign.
We conducted weekly straw poll meetings with supervisors to assess employees' interest in the raiding union.
Recommended and implemented a management messaging strategy to communicate with employees during the raiding union campaign.
Employees' anonymous questions are answered and posted within twenty-four (24) hours.
Analyzed employee questions and developed talking points to enhance the President's message at employee meetings.
Production employees, by a two-thirds majority vote, defeated the raiding union.
Union negotiations:
Reviewed current union contract language and made recommendations to Company President.
STHRM Inc. sourced local wages and benefits data to develop and ascertain wage and benefit negotiation recommendations.
We participated in union negotiations as the second chair.
Represented employees accepted the Company's collective bargaining contract on the first ballot.
